About Vasilis' Artistic Approach
Vasilis' work may be characterized by concerns and concepts such as entrapment, restriction, separation, or partition as a way of exploring and understanding life. In his architectural works, Vasilis creates passages that connect the here and now with the there and the any after, inviting the viewer to experience these passages either visually or physically. Most of his works have as a starting point or reference the cultural and architectural tradition of Greece, mainly the region of Epirus where he was born and raised. He is also inspired by spaces that were or are used for spiritual purposes and by structures in the defense system. He is fascinated and impressed by ancient tombs as the best sources of understanding the character of the society to which these monuments belong.
