EPEKEINA—LIFE BEYOND

Epekeina is a Greek word meaning “beyond.” It refers to what lies beyond this life—the realm that follows our existence, the unknown extension of being. Epekeina is not only the beyond of life but also the beyond of being—the point where existence becomes a question rather than a certainty.

As we deepen our understanding of life, we inevitably approach the concept of death. Philosophy and art are among the few fields through which death can be contemplated—not directly, but through a more profound awareness of life itself. For ancient civilizations, and particularly for the Greeks, death was the only certainty. It was inseparable from fear, faith, and hope—especially the hope for an afterlife.

Within the meaning of Epekeina also lies the notion of transcendence: a passage, or even an escape from death, envisioned as continuation rather than end.

My work in recent years unfolds as a path—a journey of inquiry. It is a process through which I attempt to explore, express, and understand life through matter and space.

EPÉKEINA IS NOT AFTER. IT IS THE MOMENT OF CROSSING.
